No Place for Hate Committee
Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, February 5, 2008
4:30 pm
In Attendance: Rabbi Lee Lavin, Maggi Smith-Dalton, Shawn Newton, Tom Watkins
Wiccan Panel Discussion Event
The group discussed more plans for the event. They discussed how to fund Margot’s transportation costs to Salem for the event. It was mentioned to sell advertisements in a program. Some one or organization would also have to create and design a program. Also, who should businesses make check out to? Maggi will also talk to Terri Kalgreen about partaking on the panel.
The group will also need to work on getting the word out through press releases and advertisements. Maggi said she will work on a press release for the event and will touch base with Jerrie on this for information on Margot. Press releases should be sent to the Salem News, Gazette, North Shore Sunday, and Boston Globe. Shawn will also talk to Danielle at SSC about making a flyer for the event. Tom will check in with SATV to see if they would be interested in filming the event.
Maggi stated that she would like to see the events and programs the Committee hosts to be better documented. This would allow for future follow up and discussion periods about what had happened and what was discussed.
Other Business
Rabbi Lee announced that the performance of the Black Jew Dialogues will be coming in April to his synagogue.
Maggi mentioned setting up an online chat for the No Place for Hate Committee. After getting it started, we could notify other area committees and ask them to partake in it as well. This would help with the spreading of thoughts and ideas.
